What a beautiful day in Slovenia! Five of us drove to Lake Bled and Triglav National Park today. We left around 7:30 am and arrived at Lake Bled just before 11:00 am! The drive to our destination was stunning, we zigzagged through the mountains while having views of turning leaves and calm lakes along the way! At some points the roads became a little too twisty-turny for me, it felt like a rollercoaster. Our first mission when we arrived at Lake Bled was to rent a rowboat! There was an option to get a guided tour around the lake or to captain your boat, so we opted for our own boat. All five of us hopped in the rowboat and headed towards an island that had a church, restaurants, and a gelato shop!

Lake Bled

We rowed around Lake Bled for over an hour and then sadly had to return our boat. Next, we made our way to the Bled Castle, which overlooks the lake. After lunch, we drove 25 minutes to Triglav National Park. This park is centered around Lake Bohinj. We made a quick stop to check out the lake and then planned our next activity. There are tons of outdoor activities at this park so it was difficult to decide what option to go for! We didn’t have much time before sunset so we went on a short hike to Savica Waterfall.

After checking out the waterfall, the boys continued to hike up the mountain, and Maja and I began to walk and run down the road to Lake Bohinj. It was about 3-4 km away. A little over halfway to the lake, a woman stopped and offered us a ride. We did take the ride so we could get to the lake before it got dark. Once at the lake, it started to rain, but that didn’t stop us from going for a dip! The water was crystal clear, with a white sand bottom. When I got in the water ducks swam over to me, I think they thought I had food. After the very quick swim (because it was so chilly!) Maja and I took shelter from the rain and had a snack! The boys picked us up at 7:00 pm and we started our journey home.

This was a great day trip destination however, I would love to go back and spend more time there!
